Still not 100% healthy but much better.

The whole thing had completely wiped me out and all I had to do was think about stuff. Not good. I spent over a week contemplating things I thought I needed to change.

So I'm going to have another weeks detox as I'm eating more chocolate and crisps now... bad me! I'm also going to make myself some kind of exercise calendar. Tougher things I had on my mind were about work though, I'm still not sure how I feel about it all, so until I can work that out there's no changing there.

Do you have a favourite part of autumn?

My favourite part? I love walking through the leaves. Of course it has to be dry... don't think that'll happen this year! Dragging my feet through the giant piles of leaves in the park always puts a smile on my face.

2. "It's too cold to snow!" Do you think it ever is?

I only ever use that when sarcastically agreeing with someone who's just said it. "Oh yes, definitely too cold to snow!"

3. Do you feel there is still a place for British Summer Time or should we just stop changing the clocks?

Changing the clocks annoys me because I always forget at least one clock, but I do love that "extra" hour in bed.

4. Are there certain meals you only eat in certain seasons (salad in summer, stew in winter)?

I love my food too much to only eat it at certain times of the year. The nearest I get to seasonal meals is adding hot chicken to my salads in the winter.

5. Autumn is...?

A season full of my favourite colours.

 Comments

What A Muppet

Another waste of a day looking at vids on YouTube.

By the way, I would in no way enourage you to watch all of this next clip... I've had this tune in my head ever since I watched it, and I only watched 30 seconds of it!

I was ready and my bag was packed, I was waiting to see if our driver could pick me up on the way in, I wasn't just hoping the day would fly by [well okay I was kinda].

Our front door is made of this weird bobbly glass.

I am hear to declare that night nurse is one of the best cold & flu remedies to make you go a bit loopy. I sat on the stairs essentially joining the dots, making houses, looking for the perfect square, trying to spot constellations. It was actually the most chilled out I've been in a couple of weeks... visual therapy. I spaced out for about five minutes while waiting for my phone to ring.

So thank you night nurse, you really chilled me out!

That might have something to do with the fact that every time I lay down I start wheezing like a broken motor. Hopefully I'll fall asleep at work. Only 3 hours until I'm due to get up!

Right, things to make me fall asleep... and so my mission begins... to find the most boring thing on the internet!

 Comments

Habit Forming

After doing the Friday Five on Halloween it got me thinking about superstitions and habits etc. Well, maybe not habits per se, more quirks of my personality.

I'm not a neat person. I can cope with piles of stuff all over the place because I know where everything is. My desk, or any area I occupy for leisure is beyond organised though. When everyone went away I had the table in the kitchen. I had my laptop out with all the essentials lined up in the order I would use them. I get annoying at times because I know I waste time doing that when I should be doing other things!

I noticed the other day that when I get dressed I always put my trousers on right leg first. I thought this was a bit daft so I tried doing it the other way around. This wasn't very sensible as I almost fell straight on my arse. So more of a physical necessity than anything.

Tic tacs and skittles are tough for me to share. I have to eat tic tacs in pairs. Skittles have to be eaten in the right order of colours. Yellow, green, orange, purple and red. Unless its a particularly stressful day, in this instance, yellow, green, and then the last three poured into your mouth together until you get a sugar induced headache!

Thats enough of sounding crazy I guess!

I'm also going back to work tomorrow, sensible? No. Happening anyway? Yes. Currently I sound like a cross between Darth Vader and a pervy heavy breather. So maybe no answering the phone for me, although I'm sounding a bit husky so it could be fun.

I'm just feeling a bit grumbly about the whole thing really. This damn bug and my tooth. As predicted by happy28 the temporary filling fell out five days ago so now I'm feeling the pain again. What with the pain killers and cold and flu remedy I'm surprised I'm not seeing pink unicorns dancing around my room. At least that'll make for a more interesting day at work!

Are you superstitious?

I'm a creature of habit rather than superstition. I step on the cracks but so far my Mum is alright... touch wood. I'm not bothered about ladders or picking up pennies [although I do drop them so other people can pick them up]. I've always done the whole "touch wood" thing but never really as a superstitious thing, I don't expect it to do anything.

2. Are you attending or hosting a halloween party this year?

No party for me, too poorly. To be honest I'm not one for parties full stop. Last time we went out it was a complete bust, didn't enjoy it at all. I much prefer staying in with a funny movie and some ice cream.

3. What's your favourite scary movie?

I really enjoyed 1408 with John Cusack. I was so glad I watched it in the day. I think I'm getting to the age where I can't watch scary films at night as they really freak me out! Great film though, heavy on the psychological stuff.

4. Trick or Treat?

Oh why not both, open the door and throw a bucket of water at the critters and follow it up with some chocolate.

5. The best Halloween costume is...?

Hmmm.. tricky. The Doppler Effect [Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory sported that one]. I'd love to go in a Jane Austen-esque period outfit, but failing that I'd have to go superhero.

I have a message saying my blog has been tagged. My initial response was "oh thats exciting". I clicked the link to see the tag.... "Wales" ?!?! What? Why?

I don't know if I've ever mentioned Wales. Possibly in passing but I have never raved about it. I'm not saying I hate Wales, that would be harsh as I've never been there but I have however tarred Wales with my Charlotte Church brush. [Boring story, just to sum up - I don't like her very much.]

So, whoever tagged me, thank you very much but I would appreciate not seeing that tag again. Thank you.

Two days in a row I made it to work to realise it was really stupid and came home again. This morning I got woken up and couldn't be bother with getting up, I figured there wasn't much point.

I've spent three days watching films, drinking ribena and getting worn out walking to the kitchen. That last one is one of the draw backs of being ill when there's no one around to look after you!

I'm going to have to venture out tomorrow though as I'm about to run out of medicine! I did attempt to do some work, and be productive but I got my notepad out and I just fell asleep. I tried five times and within about three minutes each time I was asleep. Why doesn't that happen at work?

Birthday Profile.

You've been living for 28 years, 1 months, and 2 days.
You were born on a Friday.
Your date of conception was probably 26th December 1980.
You've seen 7 leap years.
Your Zodiac Sign is Virgo.
Your Chinese Zodiac Sign is Rooster.
Your Ruling Planet is Mercury.
Your Birthstone is Sapphire.
Your Birth Flower is Aster.
Your Birth Tree is Lime Tree.
Your Birth Number is 1.
Time till your next Birthday 332 days 3 hours 2 mins.
Your Lucky Color is Blue or White.
Your Lucky Day is Wednesday.
Your Lucky Number is Five.

I love the idea that I was an extra special Christmas surprise! I would like to know though, why and Aster and a Lime Tree? And despite Wednesday being my lucky day I have not won the jackpot on the lottery and I buy my lottery tickets on Wednesdays [I did this before knowing about the lucky day as its the day the cash machine gets filled].

I went to have my tooth re-filled today, was feeling sick enough as it was and then he drilled it out and I swear I heard a builder... "Oooh I can't fill that today". Okay so he didn't say it that way but that was what my brain heard.

I managed to be calm in the chair, no crying or trying to bite his hand [if you can't tell, I have issues with the dentist]. But when he told me I'd have to come back I almost cried. He's filled it with some temporary stuff and I've got to go back to have it filled on November 9th. Annoyingly, the tooth now hurts more than it did when I went this afternoon. On the bright side, Mum felt sorry for me and made me macaroni cheese!

I have not gone crazy, unfortunately I didn't have a camera to hand to snap the event. Okay, so I didn't see aliens. I have to admit though that when I looked into the sky, for a second, I pondered. I could tell [after the double take] that they were those lanterns that you put candles in and they float away. It was beautiful, and a little spooky.

Climate change has always been a topic I have avoided in general. One of those things you know is happening but isn't happening to you [yes I know it is happening to me but you know what I mean!] Another one of those topics that you feel you can't do anything about. How can one person make a difference? So whats the point in trying? I'm guilty of thinking these things and it makes me feel awful.

I recycle and as far as the environment goes thats the most I do. I buy a lot of consumer products and thinking about the amount of plastic I "buy" as a result of the items inside is horrific. More companies should consider how they package things. I know this is not technically climate change but its part of everything that contributes to it.

We are devastated by weather every day somewhere in the world. There are hurricanes, tsunamis, earthquakes... the list is horribly long. In the UK we stay relatively unharmed by the major events but it wont stay like that. If there's just a handful of things we can do to do our bit then we should. After all, its better late than never.

They are contemplating making you drive independently, meaning they will drive you out of town for about 20 minutes and then you have to follow signs back. Hello?? What are they thinking? It'd be hilarious! We were talking about this and I pointed out that I would never leave for a trip without knowing where I was going. I'd either program sat-nav or study a map so I had some clue where to go. I'd never go out and wing it.

We were out on the road Sunday coming back from Essex and it took three of us to spot a sign at one point. So if you are trying to concentrate on the road, or more to the point driving the car so you can pass the test, how are you going to be able to do that? We all know that road signage isn't always that brilliant... I really hope that's not a serious plan, could you imagine? How lost would you get before they pointed you in the right direction? I'd be quite tempted to get them horrendously lost, pull over and tell them that if they want to get back to civilisation they'll pass me!

Facebook... I don't do anything constructive with it, I just play mahjong most of the time. I might try and abandon it for a week. I manage to do it while I'm on holiday and its a nice reprieve so why not do it for the hell of it? Everyone thats important off there has my number or email. I was trying to think of all the things I'd do with the extra time but I have to be honest, I think I'd just end up spending all my time on here... now I think about it that'd be brilliant!

We got to see it with Sarah Jayne Dunn [Mandy from Hollyoaks], Lisa Riley [Mandy from Eastenders] and Sally Lindsay [Shelly from Coronation Street]. It was fantastic. Riley made a truly brilliant performance and watching Lindsay moan on stage, well that just did things that no woman should experience in public.

There were a few men in the audience, quite why they came I don't know but they were playing along and not being miserable buggers so good on 'em. There was something quite primal about a theatre full of women screaming the words [I'm going to censor them but I don't know why I bother, they're only offensive if you read them that way!] ct and p*s.

Included in the monologues were the questions what would your vagina wear, and what would it say in two words. I was thinking about this and I think that my vagina is a lot more confident that the rest of me so I'm going with a pair of leather trousers and a corset and it would probably say "take me". That was just what sprang to mind, I may contemplate it more.

The whole event had my mind racing, for good or bad I don't know. All I know is that I've said the words vagina and c**t more than ever before in my life and I feel free. We're supposed to be taking the c-word back, its not derogatory, but I don't think I'll be saying it in public anytime soon just in case!

I came across Jane Eyre, as some of you know I've been having a classic literature moment so I put on the first episode. I ended up watching all four episodes and didn't get to sleep until after 3am but it was worth it.

Okay so I know he was married, but damn it he looked so hot! As I was the only one at home I was shouting at the TV [I have a habit of doing this as clearly the people on the telly have no clue about anything]. Generally things like, "oh my god, punch her" or "Jane he's so hot, jump him for gods sake"

I got up at around 10.30 today and then got moaned at... its my time off I'll do what I like with it. The conversation was along the lines of "shall we do something tomorrow?" to which I replied I couldn't as I have plans and I can't Thursday as I have to go into work in the afternoon for my job review and I didn't want to do anything Friday because I was going to go down the pub for lunch with the girls from work. So clearly its my fault that they can't do anything this week! I pointed out they could go somewhere without me... obviously that was too logical!

I have discovered another bonus of eating healthy. I decided to have some ice cream and normally I could quite happily vegitate with a tub of harg-and-arse but I got half way through and felt incredibly sick. Good for my waistline but my brain really wanted a whole tub!

She's just been through Freshers Week and had been asking us to come visit. Gladys managed to con another friend into driving, poor little bugger, I wouldn't have wanted to do it but he's an angel.

When we pulled into the campus I was quite surprised because it was seemingly in the middle of nowhere. Walking around though it really was like a little village. An American diner, student bar, mini mart, post office. If you didnt know any better you might have thought you were just in a little town somewhere. I particularly enjoyed the price of drinks, a pint of coke here costs £2.30 and I brought two for £2.40. Got to love these student bars! We went and played some pool and as it was a club day it was free.

The flats themselves did look like something out of the dodgy part of London, and it felt a bit like a prison once you were inside but I've seen worse so she's not doing too bad. Nice bunch of people apart from the odd psycho who had thrown bottles out of the windows. Really made me pine for university life in some ways. I don't think I'd have been able to do it when I was that ages, I really didn't enjoy studying at all. Never mind, I can go and visit and make myself feel old sometime soon!

Just about to do some pain free exercise thanks to the chiropractor yesterday. I didn't see my usual one, I couldn't help but feel a bit worried about going because everytime I see this guy I come out in agony. That's not his fault though because usually I only have to see him because I need an emergency appointment. Any way, he has a wonderful smile which makes up for the pain!

I don't know how many of you have been to chiropractors but they press on some of the muscles to loosen them up. [I know thats not very technical of me!] I'm feeling a bit bruised from that but I don't mind as its much better than the pain I was in before. Plus I know that once it eases off the rest of me will be "fixed". So definitely good pain.

The more I think about the exercise the less I want to do it... I think I'm just trying to waffle so I can put it off. I think I'll go have some fruit, that doesn't feel so much like cheating on the exercise!

I really have the urge for sausage and chips, preferably in a basket... I believe I have ranted about my love of them before! I'm also longing for some of that vivid red ketchup thats a bit too acidic. That'd take me right back to my childhood. Damn you gastro pubs!!! Robbing children of the chance to experience basket meals!!

Well I have just dried my hair, and after being somewhat blonde this is a bit of a shock. I knew it was going to be dark but it went darker than the darkest colour on the box [not that these things are very accurate but surely they should be of some help!].

I don't know why but I looked in the mirror and it instantly reminded me of when Willow on Buffy went all "evil witch". So tomorrow I'm going to see how cursing people goes at work. You never know, it might work.

They say that the things reflect the owner but I'm looking around and cant see it. The clutter I guess reflects me... which reminds me I need to do something about that... at some point... maybe.

You look around my room and you can see my main interests. Books. DVDs. Writing. Art. But the room itself doesn't have any personality. Beige wallpaper with a beige flower-like border. Do I strike you as the flower wallpaper sort? On second thoughts don't answer that. I'd love to do a mural type design if I had enough wall space. Maybe that can be my next project. I can already see a classic broadway motif.

I sort of inherited this room and the beige wallpaper was installed, that was over ten years ago... oh my goodness, that just made my heart sink a little bit. The wallpaper holds some memories, it would take a lot for me to take it down. I don't think I'm at the point where I can change things just yet, maybe that means I am a bit beige.

So I found another one and instead of an uninformative one word answer I'm going to make a post out of them. Although some of the questions are trivial I think something exciting can be made out of them. So stay tuned for some hopefully exciting posts [well hopefully!].

After fixing my back [almost] I'm seeing what I can break next... as it turns out it was my teeth that gave in first! In desperate pain I went to the dentist, a trauma all by itself! The conclusion was that there was an infected tooth... I could have told them this without him poking it!

The next thing that happened took the biscuit. He wrote me a prescription for some antibiotics but he hesitated before he handed it over and said "No alcohol!" I didn't take this to heart and popped down to the chemist. Well. When the pharmacist did the same thing I was slightly worried... what do they know that I don't?

I'm sure I was never that drunk...

Well I've now got my feet up watching Mr Darcy and Elizabeth dancing about and I can't help but think... phwoar! There is something about real ladies and gentlemen [all be it staged ones] that makes ones bosom heave.

So I'm enjoying my step back in time, although now the desire to dance and curtsey is overwhelming. Well Lizzie is off to Kent so I'll have to start paying attention... and we all know why!
