  • Moody Blues and Greens

While out shopping yesterday I acquired a mood ring. I always remember them being highly entertaining as a kid. "Oooh its gone red, you're in love" and then the obligatory mocking that followed.

I've been keeping track on the colours I've been going during the day [because these things must be 100% accurate right?!] All day yesterday it was a purpley-blue which means passionate. I kid you not... all day... chance would have been a fine thing! Today I have been fluctuating between happy and relaxed, and passionate [to be fair that time it was justified!]

All I need now is one of those silly plastic red fish that curls up and I'll be reliving my tacky childhood in no time!

  • Shopping Spree

Every year Mum and I go to Bluewater and shop until we drop. And after a heavy night out last night I have definitely dropped!!

At least some of the Christmas presents are out of the way, the rest are all sitting in a wish list on Amazon and will be brought when pay day comes round. Thank god thats over!

Highlight of the day? Free samples in Hotel Chocolat... thank you "woman with a tray" the only way you could have been better is if you'd had some caffiene to offer me too!

  • Monday Mania

Not so much mania from my point of view but all my work colleagues were surprised by my perkiness. I had a fantastic day [apart from a brief coughing fit when I almost passed out, I'm fine though don't worry], I spent the whole time singing along to the radio... I don't know where all the customers have gone but the ones that did phone were delightful.

I didn't realise how down I was up until this point. This morning I realised that it was the first day in ages I had an actual smile on my face. Things that would annoy me during the day, and they certainly annoyed me last week, were just bouncing right off.

I think its just finally hit me that I can have my own fun and I shouldn't feel guilty. I would be moping at home trying to do work because there was no time to do it in the office. At this precise point in time... I couldn't give a monkies. I've met some great new friends and strengthened old acquaintances. I'm having a social life that I'm enjoying for once. That sounds awful... I enjoyed my social life before its just that there wasn't much of it because we are/were all so busy.

After the health kick and trying to bring myself back to some sort of sensible place in my life I feel like I'm getting there. There are more reasons to carry on with the change rather than fall off the wagon and go back to my old ways.

I'm off to see who else I can annoy with my hopefully not too temporary happiness. Big hugs all round. xx

  • Happy Birthday happy28

Happy Birthday honey, big hugs, have a fantastic day. xx

  • A Smile On My Face

Which is tricky considering I can barely move it thanks to the dentist. Crossed fingers, toes and anything else that'll cross that I'm fixed!

Despite a bad day at work, seemingly half the staff were off, I've had a fantastic day. Smile on my face through most of it.

And the word photosynthesis, strangely that was the funniest word I heard today.

  • Entertainment Required

Anyone... some ideas please. What things are there to do that are fun and quirky in London/Surrey. I do the same things over and over again, same pub, same shopping, same old same. Anything out of the ordinary about to keep me off the streets?

  • Back On Track

I finally feel like I've gotten over the worst of the flu bug. Still not 100% healthy but much better.

The whole thing had completely wiped me out and all I had to do was think about stuff. Not good. I spent over a week contemplating things I thought I needed to change.

So I'm going to have another weeks detox as I'm eating more chocolate and crisps now... bad me! I'm also going to make myself some kind of exercise calendar. Tougher things I had on my mind were about work though, I'm still not sure how I feel about it all, so until I can work that out there's no changing there.

  • Autumnal Friday Five

    1. Do you have a favourite part of autumn?

My favourite part? I love walking through the leaves. Of course it has to be dry... don't think that'll happen this year! Dragging my feet through the giant piles of leaves in the park always puts a smile on my face.

    2. "It's too cold to snow!" Do you think it ever is?

I only ever use that when sarcastically agreeing with someone who's just said it. "Oh yes, definitely too cold to snow!"

    3. Do you feel there is still a place for British Summer Time or should we just stop changing the clocks?

Changing the clocks annoys me because I always forget at least one clock, but I do love that "extra" hour in bed.

    4. Are there certain meals you only eat in certain seasons (salad in summer, stew in winter)?

I love my food too much to only eat it at certain times of the year. The nearest I get to seasonal meals is adding hot chicken to my salads in the winter.

    5. Autumn is...?

A season full of my favourite colours.

  • What A Muppet

Another waste of a day looking at vids on YouTube.

By the way, I would in no way enourage you to watch all of this next clip... I've had this tune in my head ever since I watched it, and I only watched 30 seconds of it!

  • Glass Houses

I was sitting on the stairs this morning, contemplating going to work. I was ready and my bag was packed, I was waiting to see if our driver could pick me up on the way in, I wasn't just hoping the day would fly by [well okay I was kinda].

Our front door is made of this weird bobbly glass.

    window

I am hear to declare that night nurse is one of the best cold & flu remedies to make you go a bit loopy. I sat on the stairs essentially joining the dots, making houses, looking for the perfect square, trying to spot constellations. It was actually the most chilled out I've been in a couple of weeks... visual therapy. I spaced out for about five minutes while waiting for my phone to ring.

So thank you night nurse, you really chilled me out!

  • AM Madness

It is almost 3am and I'm still awake. That might have something to do with the fact that every time I lay down I start wheezing like a broken motor. Hopefully I'll fall asleep at work. Only 3 hours until I'm due to get up!

Right, things to make me fall asleep... and so my mission begins... to find the most boring thing on the internet!

  • Habit Forming

After doing the Friday Five on Halloween it got me thinking about superstitions and habits etc. Well, maybe not habits per se, more quirks of my personality.

I'm not a neat person. I can cope with piles of stuff all over the place because I know where everything is. My desk, or any area I occupy for leisure is beyond organised though. When everyone went away I had the table in the kitchen. I had my laptop out with all the essentials lined up in the order I would use them. I get annoying at times because I know I waste time doing that when I should be doing other things!

I noticed the other day that when I get dressed I always put my trousers on right leg first. I thought this was a bit daft so I tried doing it the other way around. This wasn't very sensible as I almost fell straight on my arse. So more of a physical necessity than anything.

Tic tacs and skittles are tough for me to share. I have to eat tic tacs in pairs. Skittles have to be eaten in the right order of colours. Yellow, green, orange, purple and red. Unless its a particularly stressful day, in this instance, yellow, green, and then the last three poured into your mouth together until you get a sugar induced headache!

    skittles

Thats enough of sounding crazy I guess!

  • Nose To The Grindstone

It feels like that already without those lovely soft tissues... damn this bug. I'm also going back to work tomorrow, sensible? No. Happening anyway? Yes. Currently I sound like a cross between Darth Vader and a pervy heavy breather. So maybe no answering the phone for me, although I'm sounding a bit husky so it could be fun.

I'm just feeling a bit grumbly about the whole thing really. This damn bug and my tooth. As predicted by happy28 the temporary filling fell out five days ago so now I'm feeling the pain again. What with the pain killers and cold and flu remedy I'm surprised I'm not seeing pink unicorns dancing around my room. At least that'll make for a more interesting day at work!
