  • On The Tiles In A New Pair Of Shoes

Night out on the town last night and I had the best italian food I've had in a long time. We went to the Spaghetti Tree in Sutton which is one of the last home style italian restaurant I've seen in the area. Great atmosphere and food, its wonderful to find a nice place thats not been turned into a "mass market" chain. Our local italian was like this and then all of a sudden was reopened as a sparkly new eatery, no italian flags, no maps of italy painted on the wall... no atmosphere at all. All this sparkle meant more expensive food and less fun. Such a shame.

I didn't have a single drink last night but I've managed to wake up this morning feeling like I had thanks to a my feet. Great new pair of shoes that didn't hurt while I was wearing them... typical!

  • Working For The Man

... a horrible man who has irrational expectations for the amount of staff I have. I've been chilling out since I got home as the day itself was awful. I've been contemplating what to do with my money as its payday tomorrow. I know I shouldn't spend it but I really want to!!

I kind of snapped this week. I had the sudden urge to be organised and plan things. It was a fleeting moment, I hung up a load of my clothes then ran out of hangers. I just don't know how that happened though, normally I have so many hangers I can barely get the clothes in the wardrobe... hence the piles of clothes on my desk! Clearly a sign I need to go shopping to get more hangers... thats it I've convinced myself to go shopping, easier than I thought!

  • Easy Come Easy Go

I've been working on some writing for a while now and I came up with the perfect idea for a character the other night. Ever since then I have been trying to write something. Well, no writer's block for me, writer's verbal diarrhoea perhaps. I write a page, reread it, then put a giant cross through it and try again. I've been doing that for about three days. I'm off to try again, its getting there I'm just worried that by the time I get there I'll be so annoyed with the character that I wont want to write anything else about them.

  • Small & Perfectly Formed

This week has been a bit up and down but on Tuesday night I had a great time. Heather Small [of M People fame] was playing with the Snake Davis Band. She has the most amazing voice, she could sing the phone book and I'd listen. Not only was her singing wonderful but her dress was fabulous, she looked like she'd had it folded around her.

I was slightly surprised by the people that were at the concert. I expected there to be lots of people around my age but the amount older people was amazing. I was rather confused by the amount of people who left during the show. The opening act were on for about 40 minutes and quite a few people left before they'd even finished. I don't mind people leaving concerts, after all its their money, but either wait until the set is over or leave quietly. These people were just so rude, they weren't making any effort to be quiet.

I ended up going on my own but it wasn't too bad. I'm fed up of missing things because no one wants to do them. I spent so much time doing what other people wanted to and not getting the same back that I just decided to say "sod it" and do what I want for a change. When I finally get some of the time off I'm owed I'm going to do my trips up to London and find some plays to go to. Get that whole culture thing going again.

  • Better Than Expected

I watched Eurovision against my better judgement. Last year due to corruption and Terry saying he wouldn't do it again I was going to make a one woman stand... but I actually liked our entry. Much to my delight Graham was much better than I thought he would be. Voting was a bit more fair than usual, not entirely, certain countries I could still guess what was going to happen. Winning song I quite liked, although it could have done with out his daft facial expressions. I was voting for Azerbaijan or Iceland myself, and I feel that Germany got a bit of a bad time, they certainly deserved more votes than that.

I might watch it again next year, good songs [mostly], good commentary, shame about the voting.

  • Working For The Weekend

...or I was going to be. Firstly I just want to say thank you to those of you who gave me advice yesterday. We'll just have to see what happens.

I was going to work this weekend on website content from home but to be honest I woke up this morning just not in the mood. I ended up watching all the things I had recorded on my V+ box. Expect Knightrider, still not sure how I feel about it being new.

I watch last weeks Criminal Minds and it was a brilliant episode. I don't know what I liked so much about it but I actually turned off my computer so I could watch it. Mitch Pileggi [Walter Skinner in X-Files] played an excellent part in it.

Might go off to do some of that work but to be honest I don't find it very likely.

  • Podcast Fail

And unfortunately not fail in the humourous sense of the word. I've been listening to Phill & Phil's Perfect Ten. In one of the podcasts they said that the Colling and Herring one was worth a listen so I downloaded it. Well, I listened to it on the way to work... I'm surprised I didn't fall in to a coma while walking.

Five minutes in and I'd had enough but I gave it a chance. After 15 more minutes I had had enough. They spent too long talking about the Madeline anniversary and quite frankly being crude. I'm not the best person to talk about that subject anyway but there are just some things you don't use in something that is portrayed as a comedy show... and I use comedy in the loosest sense regarding this podcast.

Think of the frank discussions you have with your friends over a drink at the pub or a work on your tea break. Its honest, its insightful and its entertaining if the right people are involved. This podcast is a complete waste, the whole thing is the two of them trying to shout louder than the other.

We need some real comedy, good clean comedy thats actually funny. Bring back the good old days with Blackadder and the Two Ronnies.

  • Silence Is More Silver Than Golden

With everyone away I come home to a silent house. I love my computers and TV but I do like the sound of none of them on. I never really notice how much noise all these things make.

Why is it that I only have the urge to do things when every one is away... well I have a feeling I know why but I wont share them. I've changed my bed [although I spent about 30 mins trying to get the duvet in the cover]. I did some washing. Tonight I cooked roast chicken [all be it not a whole chicken]. I even contemplated sorting out the spare room but thought better of it when I opened the door. I've restocked the fridge and tomorrow I'm going to throw out all the stuff that they forgot to throw out when they went away. Might even clean the fridge... well, I said might.

  • Erase This File?

I was thinking today that there are too many thoughts and memories in my head. Too many that I don't want that is. I then decided to contemplate what I would do if I had an erase button installed in my brain [as you do!]. It wasn't as simple as I thought it would be. On the plus side I can get rid of all those memories that make me cringe, I'd also be able to experience everything over again. Okay that last one might not all be good! I thought about all the things I'd lose though, some of my favourite memories would be gone forever.

    Would you hit erase?

  • Perfect Ten

I'm a big fan of stand up comedy and many years ago I got a copy of Phill Jupitus' Quadrophobia on audio CD [not quite the same but still brilliant]. Anyway, I was searching to see it if was available as a video on iTunes and came across Phill and Phil's The Perfect Ten. Apart from Phill Jupitus being a genius, which in itself is a perfectly good reason to listen to anything he does, the whole idea sounded quite good. Its the most ridiculous fun I have had in ages. Some of it makes you chuckle, some of it makes you weep with laughter and the rest makes your sides hurt.

Its free as a podcast so it doesn't cost you anything to give it a try. Probably not for the easily offended or squeamish. You can pick up the two and three hour downloads on audible or iTunes, although I think its actually cheaper in iTunes. I've instantly subscribed to the podcasts and I'm going off to listen to some more while munching on a bag of toffee crisp bites... I've been eating well all week so sue me for having and some chocolate!

  • What Will Be Will Be

I'm having another one of those I don't know moments. What shall I watch? What should I read? Shall I just go to sleep? I'm that undecided. I quite like times like this, its generally when I get things done that I've been putting off... of course sometimes they just end up becoming me typing stuff on the internet!

We had the longest meeting at work today and it has made me want nothing but relaxation over the weekend. I'm not sure what the weathers going to be like but I've got lots of books to read and the bottle of wine that work brought me. I think its a plan!

  • Working For The Man

What is it with all these customers deciding they have budgets and started spending? Today has been manic and the rest of the week is shaping up to be the same. We couldn't help but laugh, the boss had been told not to bother showing us a query as we didn't need to be stressed... like we weren't already. Neither of us stopped moving. All the work does pay off though, if we meet our target we get a bonus. Some asparagus... I swear if he is serious I'm going to stick that asparagus where the sun don't shine.

  • Creaking Like An Old House

Not content with an extraordinarily hard week Friday night the girls and I went up to London and went on the Jack The Ripper walk. It was really good, the guide, who name I believe was Mark [I really hope it was, curse my bad memory!] was a Beefeater and lived in the Tower of London. That has got to be the best job ever... next to chocolate taster or maybe movie reviewer [in my case anyway]. It was a lot of walking but we had a fantastic evening. We also got to see the only house in London to have a half in its address, it used to be owned by Batman [Val Kilmer] but he just sold it for 7 million give or take a half million. It wasn't exactly the classiest place. Three doors away from a Jack the Ripper murder in a bit of a dive but the half made it expensive.

Anyway, if you have a spare two hours on a Friday night I would recommend it. Its £7 but they say you only have to pay at the end if you enjoyed it... trust me you will, even if its just for his jokes. As the title of this post would suggest though I haven't been moving right since I got back. I should be almost right now so I might go out for a bit of a stroll to work out the last of the kinks. Highly more likely though I'm going to order some t-shirts off the internet though.

Hugs for the long weekend, and fingers crossed for slightly more sun than there is at the moment.
