  • Willpower The Final Reckoning

I made it, and I didn't cave in to the desire for chocolate. Hooray! A colleague brought me a penguin in celebration and I had that this morning... I felt really queasy afterwards though. I think I'm still going to cut out crisps and fizzy drinks. I've also realised that I do have the enthusiasm to come home and cook. So no more ready meals.

I have to say though, I don't feel any better for it but when I got on the scales I've lost 5lbs so it worked. The only thing I miss is flavour.

  • Willpower Day 5

Today was a good day, jacket potato and tuna for lunch and soup for dinner. I haven't really been that hungry the last couple of days. One day left... I might have to treat myself to the pancakes I missed on Tuesday.

  • Culture-A-Go-Go

I have lived about 20 minutes away from London all my life but very rarely go there. I was thinking about it and actually can't remember the last time I went, although I believe it was in the last two years. As I have decided this is unacceptable I've decided to pick lots of places I want to go and visit and then just do it.

Trip one I have decided is going to go something like this. British Museum... just love those creepy mummies! Trafalgar Square... to harrass some pigeons. National Gallery... Its one of my most visited London spots but I just love it. Then probably wander through St James' Park for a quick stop outside Buckingham Palace and then back to Victoria Station for a bit of a shop before home. It's probably a lot to get in but I figure if I hit BM really early and don't do any dawdling I'll be fine!

I think trip two is going to be the Science Museum, Natural History Museum and the V&A. But this is less certain as I think three big things in a day is going to be a bit tough but we'll see. I also want to go to Hyde Park which is "next door" and Harrods so that to me sounds like two days worth of trips there.

I'm off to study my London maps and see what else I can do before I loose the enthusiasm! I'll be back properly on Friday for a good old catch up!

  • Willpower Day 5

I've almost lost count and its been less than a week... I need to work on my memory skills.

Great will power today, the folks had pizzas for dinner but I was strong even when offered the last slice I refused. I had a rather disgusting salad for lunch but yummy 10 vegetable soup for dinner... I counted but could only find 9 in the bowl. I'll let them off though.

I was trying to come up with a yummy meal to have on Friday in celebration and was contemplating a take away, but I wondered to myself "what was the point?" So although I think it is going to involve some garlic bread I might just make the rest of it healthy.

So whats that? 2 days left of my "detox"? God my memory is getting terrible, better go work on that ;)

  • Willpower Day 3 & 4

Still not doing bad, healthy soups and baked potatoes with salmon. Don't quite want to kill anyone for chocolate today! :D

  • Willpower Day 2

Yesterday was interesting. I found myself really wanting to lick chocolate wrappers just on the off chance there would be chocolate left. Mum has already abandoned the idea of following this with me which annoyed me. I think Dad was a bit disappointed he wasn't having my dinner. I made a really good soup, Mexican Bean Soup. It had a little bit of a kick to it but it was good, nice and thick too so I didn't miss the bread so much.

Loads of people have been saying that detoxs and diets are rubbish and its all a fad. Its not like I'm following strict instructions or anything people! All I'm doing is cutting out the crap and processed foods. So for those of you who have issues with it I'm not detoxing I'm just eating healthy... are you happy now? A bit aggressive I know but I put it down to the lack of caffiene.

Off to make myself some fruit salad to start off day three,

  • Willpower Day 1

Well I started my detox today. 7 days of this fun. Woo-hoo!! This morning I did get up and make myself some fruit salad with bio live yoghurt for breakfast with a healthy glass of clementine juice. Lunch was a sparse affair as I have a standing trip to the pub where I sat and had a glass of water. I did still have some fruit salad for lunch and a couple of carrots and some cucumber. Snacks of some lovely oat cakes. [If I ever find out who invented the oat cake they are going to be very sorry.] I had about 3/4 litre of water throughout the day which is a lot more liquid than I normally drink at work so I spent most of the day running backwards and forwards to pee. [Sorry I just lectured someone for too much information and now I'm doing it!]

Dinner is going to be a slightly more exciting dish of tuna steak, stir fried vegetables and brown rice. 30 minutes to cook brown rice though seems a bit excessive.

I've got soups lined up for lunches from now on so they should be better but my willpower is already dwindling. I have a chocolate egg in my drawer at work which did keep calling to me but it is still there. I would kill for some bread though, a nice crusty baguette or bagel, or a crumpet with lashings of butter on it... aaaarrrggggghhhh! I'm off to get a handful of unsalted nuts as a snack.

  • Scars Of The Past

I had seen some adverts for Bio Oil which is supposed to get rid of scar tissue or at least make it less obvious. Well... who knows how it'll work we'll just have to wait and see.

I got it because I had some horrid looking new scars on my leg from a piece of trellis but decided to get to work on a couple of scars on my hands too. Tonight though I was rubbing the oil in and was having yet more feelings that I didn't want to get rid of them.

Each one has its own story and although no one else knows what they all are, I do. If this stuff isn't a quack remedy they might disappear which would be a wonderful thing in some respects.

Well... I knew it, I have no life, thanks for confirming it!

  • Death Of A Saleswoman

Okay so I'm being a bit over dramatic. I'm not at deaths door but if this headache is anything to go by my body will be pretending its dead in about 2 hours. I probably shouldn't have gone to work today but I'm obviously a glutton for punishment. I did get to have a nice nap at lunch time which was rudely interupted by C. There was no need to wake me, it was 5 minutes before I started working again. My internal body clock is so good that I can wake up 2 minutes before without any alarm. I think at one point I may have swallowed an alarm clock.

What to do this evening? I think a sleep followed by a nap is in order. After I've made my shopping list of course.

  • An Old Conundrum

If toast always lands butter side down.
And cats always land on their feet.
What happens if you butter the back of a cat and drop it?

[Apart from getting hauled away for animal cruelty that is.]

  • Some Faith Left

    David Tree and Sam
    see Sarah Palin pictures

  • Tracking Mysteries

At work today I wanted to look up a post to show a friend and trying to be sly and not logging in I just did a general search on blog for it. We've all been adding these tracking widgets and I had a look at mine when I got home. Now, at home I'm from Croydon but at work which is a five minute walk and only one road away from my house I'm from Kent... how the hell does that work??!

  • Spellings, The Alternative Way

I read this on the Times this morning and thought it was great.

If GH can stand for P in Hiccough.
If OUGH can stand for O in Dough.
If PHTH can stand for T in Phthisis.
If EIGH can stand for A in Neighbour.
If TTE can stand for T in Gazette.
If EAU can stand for O in Plateau.
Then the way you spell POTATO is....
    GHOUGHPHTHEIGHTTEEAU, isn't it?

  • 25 Things

I just got tagged on Facebook to do this but it always seems like harrassment on there. But, I know you lot like these sorts of things so I thought I'd share it with you instead. I'm sure we've probably done something like this before but it keeps me entertained!!

Its simple, just list 25 random fact, habits or goals about yourself.

1] I really wish I had purple hair again.
2] I have fallen in love with the Onion Bhaji crisps from the competition.
3] I have a thing for someone on Blog... hahaha like I'm going to tell you who!
4] I've lived in my house for 22 years and still can't remember which switch is for the upstairs light and which is for the downstairs light.
5] I could probably start my own Blockbusters with the amount of DVDs I own.
    6] Despite 5, I still can't pick a film to watch.
7] I want to get a purple Ford Fusion when I pass my driving test.
    8] I love to write.
9] I love crime, not commiting it, watching crime drama, forensics and reading books about serial killers and villians.
10] Fact: I have a mole right on the end of my right pinky finger.
11] I love Chinese food and could quite happily eat it every day.
    12] I have stopped drinking.

24] I've started saving £1 & £2 coins in an attempt to stop wasting money.
25] When I need to relax I come on here, you guys always make me smile.

Well, go on then, you try.

  • Week In Focus

Monday and Tuesday were lovely, I enjoyed the snow from the comfort of my own home without having to trudge out to work.

Wednesday was an interesting trudge to work, and a very quiet day as lots of our schools were still closed.

Thursday was the day from hell. I learnt I can still do the splits. Although as a general rule I don't think I'd do it by choice! This made the rest of my day unbearably painful as I seemed to pull something in my knee.

Friday whizzed by, I think mainly because I was so rested from Thursday evening. I had come home and decided to go straight to bed at 7.30, I fell asleep and actually got up at 6.15. I got to ride in the deathmobile, also known as the works van. Not in itself a deathmobile but with Steve driving it miraculously transforms from a Renault van in to one. It was quite a fun trip though Steve is a nice bloke and we had a good old laugh.

Saturday is being spent so far catching up with you guys, watching The Big Bang Theory and lazing in bed... god bless the laptop and wireless internet!!

What to do next... hmm... I might try and convince someone that they should make me pancakes as my attepmts always seem to go badly!

  • Belated Friday Five... Sorry Again!

    1. Have you kept your new year's resolutions?

I didn't make any, this means I don't feel bad if I don't keep them.

    2. Has 2009 been a better year so far than 2008?

No, in fact, big fat NO. Four weeks of freaking misery. Aaaarrgggghhhh!!!! Phew, better now!

    3. Name one big thing you plan to do in the rest of 2009.

Try and achieve something that seems to elude me.

    4. Do you think the credit crunch will affect you more in 2009?

To be honest, and I know this will sound weird, but I have actually become more conscience of money this year and it had nothing to do with the credit crunch. Everything was going so rubbish this year that I just thought to myself, what do I waste all my money on? As I don't have anything to show for it. I decided to start saving what with wanting to get a car and you know... with old age creeping round the corner.

    5. If money were no object, what would you like to do in 2009?

I'd take those trip-of-a-lifetime trips I always think about but never do. Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Mount Rushmore, Boston art museums. Too many nice places to think of.

  • Snow Day 2 - Snow Harder

Well it didn't snow harder but I liked the pun!

Dad and I ventured out this morning, I had to go down and bank my £2.50 [thank you Boris] and we thought we'd get some bread and milk. Everyone was full of smiles and greetings, unlike every other morning when I am out going to work. We popped in to Waitrose and got some essentials as well as the bread and milk... some pretzels and caramel bars. Very essential in my book.

You can tell where people have abandoned their cars, most of them were unable to make it up some of our big hills. One fool was towing a van up our biggest hill.

I met a friend down the road who lives near work. They'd told me about the fire engines that were down there. They still hadn't been able to make it up the hill because of the snow and one house burnt down and the houses on either side were damaged. The one day when they could really use rain and we have a freaky amount of snow. Some people just don't have any luck.

  • Snow Day

... and I already have the day off! Oh well, at least I didn't have to try and get in to work today, or tomorrow for that matter. Last night at about twenty to midnight I was gazing out of my window at what was such a beautiful sight. Normally when I cast my eyes out in to the night I'm greeted by scattered orange glows of street lights and blackness. I could see houses clearly down in the valley and far off in to the fields where the horses are.

I have to admit I was kind of upset when the snow stopped falling and did say a little prayer that it would start again... it did! I got my camera at the ready and got a few snaps. I did miss an amazing photo op when a couple of foxes were clambering through the snow which for them was about shoulder height.

I have already pointed out to work that I have plans for the day, even though now they will probably only be sitting in front of the TV. But there's nothing wrong with that!

Here are a few of my snaps.

  • Snow Glorious Snow

This afternoon it started snowing but nothing was settling. I looked out the window 15 minutes ago and saw this. I had a smile on my face, not only is it a beautiful sight but I have the day off work tomorrow! Sorry to the rest of you.
