  • Film Festival ViB Style

Since the weather has been so miserable I decided not to go shopping, after all I'll be in Croydon on Friday anyway so it seems silly to go when I already have plans to be there. I had a ton of DVDs turn up so I've been chugging through them. Four discs of Looney Tunes, always a laugh!

I watched the Bank Job with Jason Statham. A friend told me it wasn't very good as he was now a big action star and it was a little film, but he has a weird taste in films so I'm glad I ignored him. All the DVDs I brought were on offer on HMV so even if they weren't any good it wasn't that much of a waste. Having David Suchet in it was a bit strange, ever since Poirot and Air Force One I can't see him in anything else.

I had 27 Dresses on next, I haven't cried that much in ages. It was wonderful, I recommend it to anyone who is having a girls night in or just wants to watch a feel good film. Katherine Heigl looked amazing in it, I have trouble taking James Marsden seriously in things without his Cyclops glasses on though.

Be Kind Rewind was still a little bit disappointing but the beginning was funny. Mos Def and Jack Black always make me want to watch a film.

I'm currently watching Enchanted. I wish everyone did just spontaneously spring in to song like that, life would be so much more fun. And if only animals could do my tidying up!! Genius! Now if you will excuse me I'm going to go and burst in to song and dance just because I can!

  • PC Cartoons

I brought myself a box set of Looney Tunes cartoons [I know I know but I like them]. The beginning of all the DVDs has a disclaimer saying that Warner Brothers in no way shares the opinion expressed in the cartoons and that at the time of producing they were exceptable standards. Has it really come to this?

  • Berated Bystander

What is the world coming to? A grinding halt if the lack of brain cells is anything to go by. I was walking home and two 30 something motorway maintence guys were coming out of the chippy in front of me. Too desperate to wait until they were in their van they opened their food and threw the paper on the floor... three foot away from a bin. Some people say don't get involved over petty things like that and normally I wouldn't... but when they were so close to a bin!!! Its not even like they threw it in a ball at the bin and missed, they just dropped the sheet. "Excuse me, there's a bin outside the shop for a reason." I wasn't even aggressive, although my brain was going in over drive with lots of things that can't be printed in polite society, and I got shouted at. Me thinks there is something seriously wrong with this picture!

  • Quiet Time

Its just me and the dog tonight. I have turned off the computers [this one will be going off shortly] the TV, DVD. Just the iPod playing some soothing music, it makes a change not to have the humming of machinery.

I've just been playing with my blog settings. Hopefully this will mean less spammers, I can see they are driving lots of other people crazy too. Why do they spoil it?

I've just wrapped up the presents I have for Christmas... very organised I know. I curse Paperchase though, which is very hard to say as I love Paperchase. I brought some great paper, black with glittery sliver circles on, I started to use it tonight and to my horror found it was actually that plastic stuff instead of paper. I wrapped two things up with it and I have a feeling they are going to come undone as it doesn't stick properly. I was half way through wrapping a third, oddly shaped thing, and threw it across the room, I'd used about a half spool of sellotape and it still wasn't staying stuck. So if you're buying stuff in there make sure its paper... because if you do get this plastic stuff you don't even get the satisfaction of screwing it up and throwing it properly across the room because it just undoes itself into a perfect sheet of paper in mid air!

  • Long Weekend... Long Week

I've just had a four day weekend, which should have made me feel relaxed and refreshed. But, of course, there was Christmas shopping. On the bright side though it is all done bar some golf balls and things to come in the post. Hooray! Just the wrapping left now! Yay... yes I like wrapping presents!

Work just didn't get in to the swing today. I'm going to take a big run and jump at it tomorrow and see how it goes.

I hope all of you in blogland are blogging along nicely. Thank you all for the many smiles and thoughtful moments.

  • Help, Or Not As The Case May Be

Isn't it sad when the best way to get help if you are attacked on the street isn't to shout help but to shout fire. You are more likely to get a response if people think you're not being attacked. Are we that cowardly? Have we become a society of looky-loos? Something burning is something worthy of our attention, but a person in need should see us hanging our head as we walk away? I feel ashamed, and a little bit sick if truth be told.

  • One Of Those Days

Today was ridiculous... that about sums it up! Everything was a problem, but at the end of the day I'm not stressed, I'm not angry, I feel relaxed because I just laughed through the whole lot. It made such a difference, so the moral of this story is laugh it off I think.

I'm having the urge for chinese food... hmm... I hope they're open. I tried to order from my favourite one last week and they were closed for half term so I was all psyched up for their yummy food and had to have the poor alternative. All I have to do is find a menu. Is it just me? I seem to have the local papers come through and three or four menus fall out, you forget to throw them out once and they multiply.

  • Argh Work

Well now the screaming is out of the way I get an evening to relax. Making a list of christmas presents first then getting down to watching my box set of 3rd Rock From The Sun that arrived today. It amused me more than it should have but the box is printed with "18 disc box set" on the front but there are 22 discs. Someone is doing their job well!

  • Finally Found The Energy

I spent yesterday watching films and doing jigsaws on Facebook. I ended up managing to waste the whole day and felt really good about it. I saw quite a few films, Employee Of The Month I thought that was quite good, I especially like Andy Dick in it. Knocked Up, I laughed, I cried. Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back. 15 Minutes, I was quite disappointed in that even though it was good. 300, I didn't really want to see that at first but it was brilliant. Then we rewatched Iron Man in the evening. A perfectly wasted day!

The girls and I had been out of Friday, hence the doing nothing all Saturday. We had dinner at a little Italian place and then went to a couple of bars. It wasn't such a good idea to go out on Halloween. I got a cab to Sutton as I didn't fancy standing around with all the teenagers plodding around the streets waiting for a bus. We stopped off for a drink before dinner and after I was standing outside waiting for the girls when a car pulled up. Two little girls go out in fancy dress, they looked about 6 or 7, followed by their Mum. Mum was drunk and smoking cigarettes like they were going out of fashion. On first glance it looked like they had been to a Halloween party and were heading home on the train [as we were at the station]. No, Mum told them to go trick or treating and was sending them into the pubs and up to people standing outside them smoking. I was so shocked, it was 9pm and by then most people were getting drunk how irresponsible can you be? You are putting your kids in danger and essentially having them beg for money... although I was less worried about the last part.

After dinner we were walking back down the high street to a bar and for some reason a lad had decided to take his clothes off, much to the disgust of his girlfriend. It was cold out too! We popped down to Mosaic for a drink, they were going all out for Halloween and had the place decked out. Since the last time we went there they've had a computer ID thing installed. You give them your passport of drivers licence and they put it onto a scanned that scans the photo into the records. Thats fine as we've been to other places that do that but it also reads your date of birth and puts your age in the corner of your picture. I find that a bit mean! I went in first and I was standing by the bouncer looking at the screen waiting for the girls to come through. The screen showed the last 30 or so people to come in and I scanned through and then felt really bad. All of the screen apart from the three of us had ages under 22. The moral of this story is don't go out at Halloween or during half term!

We left there quickly and went to the next open bar! Last time we'd gone in there it was really old but it looked quite good in there and we ended up staying there for the rest of the evening. It had much better music and wasn't so busy so it was a bit more relaxing. We [well I say we but it was mainly the other two] were having a seated dance off with some lads on a table nearby which was entertaining. Later on this guy came up and asked us to look after his drink while he went and had a cigarette. That's about the time the girls were really subtle and ran off to dance. I started chatting to the guy when he came back and he brought us drinks. Now men, I'm going to give you a tip, make sure you aren't really drunk when you talk to women. Also, here are a few pointers on conversation topics. Talking about work is fine but don't go over the top, women are generally being polite and aren't that bothered in the long and boring details. A big no no is also talking about your ex, when you tell us you dumped her because she wanted to spend time with you we just think you're an arsehole.

Anyway, it was a good night out and it was great to see the girls.

I've just finished watching my House season 4 box set, I need to get the NCIS one outof the way as I went on a shopping spree last night on HMV. I've ordered the original Hairspray, Pixar Shorts, Cars, Alice In Wonderland [I think], I've also pre ordered 24 Redemption and the Futurama Film coming out in February. I've been checking my other pre orders too and I should have 3rd Rock From the Sun and the lastest Futurama film turning up on Monday. It's a busy time for DVDs, I suppose I should have really left them for possible Christmas presents. Never mind, when I have to have them, I have to have them!
