So far my first day of the long weekend has been spent doing not a lot. I had a lay in with a book and then watched Deuce Bigalo Male Gigolo and Stargate Ark of Truth... Both very different but both good. Got ready to go down to work and meet a friend for lunch. Had reason to celebrate, a] I got my post! and b] I got my last assessment form and found out I passed all my course units!! On the way home after lunch I picked up a trashy magazine and wondered why so many people get obssessed with celebrities. I managed to "learn" that Cheryl someone is getting too thin, as is Paris Hilton, and Natalie Portman was used as a toilet by a dog. Thrilling stuff.

I'm putting off tidying up, the 'rents get home tomorrow and I need to do the washing up and a bit of clearing. Everytime they go away I take root in the sofa in front of the TV with all my things around me. It'd all take less than half an hour if I put my mind to it... just got to get going. I'll probably do it when my friend texts to say she's coming over.

Yesterdays trip to Oxford was actually quite educational and enjoyable... with some great muffins! We did however get overcharged by the woman at the train station. The two way trip was supposed to cost £25.90 and she quoted us £51.60. We didn't have any option but to pay it as if we missed one train we'd miss all three. The ticket inspector told us on the second train that the woman had sold us an any destination ticket instead of a non London one and this is why it cost an extra £25. We queried this as the easiest way for us to get for Oxford isn't through London and basically when you buy a ticket within Greater London they are supposed to assume you want to go into London and out. They aren't allowed to offer you the non London ticket. He did also say though that she should have done after I told her exactly how much the ticket was supposed to be. This doesn't make any sense to me, if we're supposed to be using public transport why make it and expensive and aggravating experience? I found the whole thing rather unhelpful, the woman wasn't overly rude but she didn't seem to care and was very unhelpful. Buses for me from now on... at least they're helpful.

We didn't get to see much of Oxford itself. I didn't realise how much of the city was owned by the university. The bits we saw were full of glorious architecture and its nice to see that they haven't been replaced with generic houses like most other places.
